Starting my life as a freelancer

As of the first of August I have become self employed. After working for Spil Games in the past nine and a half year as developer, IT architect, DBA and Head of Database Engineering I decided it was time to share my knowledge with the world outside.

I have founded my own company, DBArt, which I will use as an umbrella to both work as a freelance DBA and share knowledge in various ways. In the last case think beyond training and writing, but more on that in a future update.

In September I will be present at the Percona Live Europe Amsterdam 2015 conference and present about the MySQL StatsD project that I inherited and maintain. I will also do a short lightning talk about when micro services become evil. Don’t get me wrong here: I’m not against micro services at all. But they can become evil and you definitely need to know about it and be aware they can bite you in the ass.

One thing is certain: in the upcoming months I won’t be bored for a minute. 😉
